Dr Nathan Jeffery, Naturopathic Doctor.
In my early 20’s I crashed. Out of nowhere, I would have episodes where it felt like my brain stopped working and I struggled to do the simplest of things. At times talking was almost impossible. I felt exhausted and lived with a constant feeling of being overwhelmed and anxious.
Health care providers could not explain my symptoms and I jumped from medication to medication. After many years, I found the naturopathic model that focuses on a systems-based approach that encourages a self-empowerment approach to health optimization. I began to learn about my body and started studying nutrition and natural medicines. I found ways to manage my energy and support my brain through nutrition and herbal medicines. Over the years, I began to understand and embrace my own neurodivergence.
Over the past 5 years, I have had a growing interest in neurodiversity, adult autism and burnout. I get to meet many amazing people who are self-identified or formally diagnosed with autism, ADHD, AuDHD and anxiety. Many share unique life experiences and even common health conditions like food intolerances, gut issues and IBS, hyperflexibility spectrum disorder, complex PTSD, dyslexia, and dysautonomia / POTS. My approach to care is strongly based on my own health journey, cllinical experiences and incorperates self-empowerment, advocacy, and neurodiversity-affirming healthcare.
