Neurodivergent Mind
Neurodiversity Affirming appproach
I became interested in the neurodiversity model after a family member was diagnosed with autism. Since then, I noticed similar traits in myself and I was then identified as neurodivergent. This was an incredible gift for self discovery and has allowed me to connect with support and community.
I recognize that my approach is strongly based on my experiences and individualized personal collection of neurodivergent traits. This does not represent the immense diversity within the neurodivergent community. I am always learning and incorporating learning from both professional sources and others experiences.
I work with both people that self identify or with a diagnosed Neurodivergence like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and highly sensitive person. The process of self identifying as Neurodivergent, Autistic or ADHD can be a very rewarding experience.
Although I don’t offer formal assessments, routine screening assessments are common in the naturopathic primary care setting and can be reviewed. I am also happy to review blood, and order routine blood work. Over the years, I have provided input to support my patients with back to work or educational accommodations.
Neurodivergent / Autistic burnout is an active area of my current research and I feel the wellness journey is an important part of recovery which includes good nutrition, support and rest.
